Exploitation of waste heat generated in production processes
- We identified a potential for exploitation of waste heat generated in the production process in many of our industry customers the core business of which is production of finished or semi-manufactured products.
- The implementation of the solution generates savings that reduce our customers’ operating costs compared to their original systems. We use our expert knowledge and work with our customers to develop a proposition of the technological solution and implement it.
- Our customers do not bear costs related to the development and implementation of the solution nor the maintenance costs within the contract period. All these costs are already included in Geoplin’s service.
Our references in exploitation of waste heat generated in production processes:
IAK, Industrija apna Kresnice (lime production company)
• The installation of a special custom made heat exchanger for recapturing exhaust gas waste heat and putting it to use in the technological process allowed our customer IAK to improve production process efficiency by more than 20% and make energy savings.
• The direct effects of this solution are lower energy costs and reduced impact of weather conditions on production quality. Nominal thermal power of the installed heat exchanger is 4.5 MW.
Optimization of technological processes
- Energy costs may represent a big share of the total costs to the business of energy-intensive industries. Beside energy efficiency, our customers also face the need to optimise the costs of technological processes in order to increase their competitiveness.
- That is why we strive to develop solutions that allow our customers not only to be more energy efficient but, above all, to optimise their technological process. Our solutions take into account both of these aspects.
Our references in optimisation of technological processes:
IAK, Industrija apna Kresnice (lime production company)
• Together with both our customer specialising in lime production, and a technology partner, we developed a solution for expanding combustion zone in a furnace, which is an elementary part of the technological plant for lime production.
• The solution increased production capacity and at the same time reduced specific energy use per unit of product. Manufacturing of a unit of product is thus quicker, more cost-effective and its negative impact on the environment is lower.
Štore Steel
• Working closely with our customer from steel industry – Štore Steel, and an outsourced technology partner, we developed a solution for the technological process of baking of steel bars.
• Due to modern technology, the customer was able to reduce natural gas consumption and improve the welfare of employees at their workplaces.
• The technological solution enables the recuperation of exhaust gas from furnaces and better thermal insulation. The new process control system made the production process quicker, more cost-effective and more employee and environmentally friendly. Lower energy consumption leads to lower CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.
Perutnina Ptuj – mesna industrija Zalog (meat processing industry):
• The production process of our customer from meat processing industry, Perutnina Ptuj – mesna industrija Zalog, showed potential for lower electricity consumption, namely in the production of cooling energy needed for deep-freezing.
• Together with our technology partner, we developed a solution consisting of brine set at different temperatures that are required for the production at the Zalog plant.
• The outcome are lower electricity costs and lower electricity consumption made possible by the increase of cooling efficiency (EER) from 1.5 to 4.5. The new parallel cooling system also provided relief to the existing cooling system.
• The investment was entirely covered by Geoplin and allowed the customer not only to generate energy savings but also to acquire additional cooling power sufficient for the planned capacity expansion.
• The investment led to environmental benefits and reduced CO2 emissions.

Highly energy-efficient combined heat and power generation plants
- Industrial companies using natural gas for heat generation for process, steam and hot water production may substantially improve their energy system’s overall efficiency by installing a cogeneration plant (CHP).
- Installation of a CHP plant not only reduces energy costs but it also represents a redundancy to existing heat source or steam production, or represents a local high efficiency production power generation plant.

Cooling systems for technological cooling
- Cooling is in many industries key to successful production.
- Substantial savings can be made by replacing existing technologies with more advanced ones. At the same time, new technologies lead to better reliability of systems and a positive contribution to environment.
- A reconstruction of a cooling system comprising an adequate combination of technology, cooling medium, accumulation of cooling energy and high operating hours allows for one of the shortest pay-back periods in comparison to other energy efficiency measures.
Professional industrial lighting systems
- Adequate illumination of workplaces is one of the most important conditions for efficient and safe production process.
- Geoplin’s solutions for industrial lighting systems are developed in co-operation with renowned technology partners, which ensures that proposed technical solutions meet the customer’s requirements and are compliant with the standards and regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Our references prove that positive effects of reconstruction of lighting systems in our customers from industries are cost reduction and mostly better efficiency, job satisfaction of employees at workplaces and fewer occupational injuries.
Our references in professional industrial lighting systems:
Metal Ravne
• The Metal Ravne project consisted of planning, implementation and financing of the reconstruction of the existing industrial lighting in the production hall.
• The project was implemented through energy service contracting, meaning that Geoplin as the contractual partner developed implemented and financed the investment and guaranteed both energy savings and the agreed illumination of the workplaces to the customer. During the 60-month contractual period, Geoplin’s solution will save the customer 825 MWh of electrical energy yearly and reduce their carbon footprint by 454 tons of CO2 a year.
